Penitent Engine Masterclass
June 2004·pp. 104–107
THE SHORT VERSION
Mark Tait divides a centrepiece project into five working days, beginning with the base, pose and separate subassemblies. Oily metals and worn red hull panels establish the machine before he spends extra care on the exposed pilot. Parchment, skulls, green wax, flames and blood then create focal details. The schedule demonstrates how preparation and a deliberate painting order can preserve a high standard within a limited period.
